This helps a ton with avoiding temperature dips when you start to touch something and makes soldering much easier. ² This means keeping tips clean with a proper cleaner literally before every solder joint is crucial. If your tip is toast and has no shiny bit anymore, clean it. If that doesn't help use Ersa Solder Tip Reactivator or buy a new tip. Of course your parts should also be clean (Isopropanol). ³ There are ways to remove excess solder. The simplest being using the right motion with the tip on a coldish joint, making the excess solder stick to the iron and not to the (colder) joint. Other things are spring loaded suction devices (very useful to get solder out of through holes!) and solder wick (very useful to clean old pads). ⁴ There a tools like third hands and so on, and watching some videos by experienced solderers is a good way (nowadays) to learn it, but a steady hand only comes with practise. There's a chance to practice repair (which is a completely different topic from soldering)! Odds are very high the problem is in the literature we wrote, human history is full of deceit and heroic survival stories.

From my own experience, I worked as a photogrammetrist at a university, where we used to build terrain models of very dense forest areas. When there was a steep hill or sudden change in terrain, my brain could see it either as a convex hill or as a concave depression. It often depended on how I was thinking about it. The same image could suddenly look completely different even though nothing in the image had changed. The only way to confirm it was by looking at the surrounding terrain and using our experience to understand what was actually there.

The original proof scattered over thousands of pages of journal articles, plus Aschbacher and Smith's 1300 page 2 volume monograph. It's so long it's hard to know if there are any gaps. Researchers have been working on this past week using 5.6sol and 3.8 flash. The models are excellent at doing maths, and excellent at thinking of fine details, but the design that was ultimately landed on was pretty excessive with lots of total overkill, which was met with lots of the familiar "Yeah, you're totally right, we don't need to do that". 5.6 did make a really nice BOM though, which even included quick reference explainers for what each part did.
