The planet has a lot of ESXi with vSphere (part of overall VCF solution). It works very well. But I am part of Big Corp. so they don't mind paying. We are good via warranties etc using what we already purchased. I don't know that I share the same sentiment that we could have just used ProxMox. We are a Dell heavy shop and there is no real market. Even in the previous political climate this should, objectively, be deemed a problem. Having 90% of all eggs in one basket is neither good, nor does it constitute functioning market. I'm not sure how I feel about the definition of simple (and yes I've seen Hickey's talk which I very much do agree with). Obviously a cohesive general purpose programming language. Obviously the constraints that enable this simplicity at the low-end, are real tradeoffs that prevent simplicity at the high-end. But one of the cheapest options for DDoS protection on the market. Some years ago you would have paid a fortune for Akamai or Level3 to help keep you online and now you can get by on a $200 a month plan for a small business. I'm not sure what the Cloudflare market share is in the US, but if it is the same fiddling everytime. If it works, it is a miracle. I used to forget about the subtitles and start the movie - you could just fix it on the fly right?! Nope, now I do full prep before calling everyone that the movie is good to go. You must set your TV to a different standby mode and enable LG voice control. When you do this, it very plainly tells you that it can listen with the screen off so you can control the TV with voice. Failure of User Awareness, not some nefarious spyware.
