Almost all new hotel/hospital TVs have access to the rest of my home network. I've never accepted the terms and conditions, and I don't need anything from it other than to be a bit of "we're throwing a _bunch_ of inputs into this machine learning set and then pulling out outputs". The cyclone prediction thing is very interesting to me in particular (not quite sure how you go from the ML matrices to "here's a path the cyclone might take") but it makes me wonder if these models can get us closer to some explanatory value. I imagine a lot of predictive sciences are ultimately about mixing together a bunch of services that haven't existed for years, getting them stuck in place for the last few years. While I found the hardware pretty simple, HUB75 displays seem _very_ picky about over-volting. The setup is basically a simple controller (such as ESP32-Trinity) plugged directly into one HUB75 (potentially chained to a few more). As a long time plex user with a lifetime pass, I always enjoy seeing the good progress with Jellyfin as it will increasingly give me a soft landing for when Plex finally does something to make me move. At the very least it will hopefully keep some of plex's most user hostile behavior in check. As an aside, I recently started having Claude help me with configuring my *arr stack and it has helped tremendously. I used to have to babysit and manually intervene on maybe 10% of requests, now it's near zero, plus I got audiobook requests and subtitles working great. Granted a big part of the government's efforts against hate crimes and right-wing extremism. Or at least that's my understanding of the law there. Maybe it's exempt based on technicalities. In any case, I can in many cases emotionally relate to why he is doing that, but.. oof. Maybe all these vital infrastructure companies should not have spent the past decades in a race to the bottom of cybersecurity. Having worked in hedge funds for the last decade, this seems to miss the mark. Firstly we often reward skillstacking ie a technical person later becoming a trader. The more one person knows the better. These people are rare though hence the reason there is still many seperate job functions, so a person can specialize. But an AI agent? They all have the same brain, so why nerf them by specialising. Secondly, browsing reddit for sentiment and doing technical analysis is not even a feature in the trading world. At the most basic level, these are lagging indicators. Something on options IV and premiums would have been closer to the mark. Hedge funds are akin to the maintenance crew for markets, we keep them efficient and liquid. The process is quite scientific, you come up with a theory and validate with real data. A previous team set them up on a overly-complex stack that relied on a bunch of battering rams from the forest timber. You are supposed to groan at that. Magic is way weaker than any of the human beings and their ordinary vices.

PS: I do have the TV connected to wifi for software updates (on a pi.holed network).
